I gave this book a 5 star due to I have a 17 yr old Poodle. This book helped alot.This book showed me extra things to look for towards end of life. I have prepared myself for losing my love of my life. I always would tell people, he was 6 lbs of Pure Terror. No, he wasn't mean, just very protective of his family. He has Cancer tumors around his anal gland areas.2 different vets told me November 2012, that my dog would not make it thru the holidays, due to only half of his heart is working as well. He made it during those Holidays !!!, Then was told he wouldn't make it to his 16th birthday, that coming April 2013, Guess what !? He showed them!! Now it is December 2014, and he is still with us. We have noticed he is slowing down somewhat, his arthritis in legs are causing him to walk slower, he still eats well. Sleeps with us since Day 1. Reading the part about knowing when it's time helped me so much if I have to make that dreaded decision. I am hoping he goes in sleep, but if He doesn't I know I will be ready to help him over the Rainbow Bridge, and not feel guilty.
